Even the most effective mobile strategy may leave an unanswered question – do you have the flexibility and freedom to shape and extend your platform how you see fit? The answer lies in open, collaborative systems.
That’s why we built Blackboard Mobile with your contributions to the platform in mind. Sure, we’re always working to make improvements and create new features ourselves, but we want to ensure that your students, faculty and staff also have the ability to extend and customize your implementation.
Software Developer’s Kit
Expedite your iPhone application development with the same developer kit the Blackboard Mobile team uses. You’ll find important and handy classes on things like intelligent memory management checking, network data persistence and multithreading, and the creation of common view structures. The end result? Increased application quality and vastly improved development time.
Project Templates
We’ll give you a Mobile Central project template so you can create new applications in a standalone way but not at the expense of easily plugging them in. Just test your application. Run it standalone as you develop it by utilizing the developer’s kit. That’s it. It’s ready to plug it into your Mobile Central deployment.
Web API
We’ll do the heavy lifting so you can deliver consumable web-services to your constituents. How? By making query information available within Mobile Central accessible through our web API. For example, let’s say a group of students use the Mobile Central SDK to create an application to plot graduation ceremonies on campus. They can then use the Mobile Central API function to query for buildings on campus and return latitude and longitude and other details.
